Retired Chief Wilkerson Receives Award

Retired Chief Wilkerson receives his award.

On Thursday, January 18th, retired Millstadt Police Chief Ed Wilkerson received the Olympian Award at the annual Southern Illinois Law Enforcement Commission/Southern Illinois Police Chiefs Association awards banquet. Per the guidelines for this award, it is bestowed upon a retired chief or sheriff who, “must have demonstrated throughout their career exemplary leadership that has made a significant impact on law enforcement public safety, and the administration of justice, in Southwestern Illinois. The recipient must be of high moral and ethical standards and should be noted for their integrity, leadership, and innovations.” Among the highlights of his career mentioned during the presentation was his continued serving as the lead defensive tactics instructor at the Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy, where has taught for over 25 years. Wilkerson was nominated by Chief Alan Hucke.  Click below for photos from the event.
