Library
Established in 1964, the Library provides service to the people in the Village of Millstadt and the surrounding area. As members of the Illinois Heartland Library System the Library has access to the databases of all the System’s 150 member libraries. Access is available at the Library or, with a valid Library Card, via the Internet through a patron’s home computer. Any resident of the Village, over the age of 5, is eligible for a Library Card because of a tax paid to support the Library. Residents that live outside the Village limits must pay a fee to join the Library as they do not pay a supporting tax.
The Library is open 40 hours a week, 12:00pm to 8:00pm Monday thru Thursday and 10:00am to 2:00pm Friday and Saturday. The Library offers Internet access, FAX service, and copy service. Special reading programs are held for Pre-schoolers in March and October and a Summer Reading Hour is held for children over the age of 4. Other reading programs are also held throughout the year. New books, adult and youth, spoken word CD’s and Audio Books are received twice a month.
The Library Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm in the Council Room in the Municipal Building at 111 W. Laurel St., Millstadt.
