Officer Witschie Retires

On Thursday, January 19th, Officer Kevin Witschie served his last day with us, as he retired from law enforcement. Officer Witschie began his career with us in 2008 as a patrolman on midnights. Since then he has served as our department’s firearms and defensive tactics instructor and has been an investigator, including being assigned to the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis. Over the past two years he has been the department’s D.A.R.E. Officer, which he said has been the best part of his career. He also has coordinated such community outreach programs including the youth academy, senior citizens academy, and annual toy and food drive. In addition, he has worked as an instructor at the Southwestern Illinois Police Academy. His easy-going attitude and life experience was key when interacting with people who could be hostile, in an emotional crisis, or just having a bad day. We wish Officer Witschie in the pursuit of his new career outside of law enforcement, and thank him for his service to our community!
